Almost 50 million Americans live with hearing loss. As our population ages, that number is expected to double by 2030.
But it’s not just a matter of old age. Nearly a fifth of all American teens have hearing loss. And 60 percent of our veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan experience hearing loss that makes them feel even more isolated and alone returning to civilian life.
The TRF has just recently launched a hearing impairment program whereby hearing aids are recycled and provided to those in need at a fraction of the cost. Utilizing experienced audiologists, hearing aids utilizing new technology can be tuned to specific frequencies to match any particular hearing deficit.
A nation-wide retirement center has agreed to beta-test this program with the TRF and arrangements are in progress to begin distribution shortly.
